We as humans have a finite capacity for knowledge. We don't know a whole lot of stuff about ourselves or our world, and we know even less about the animal world. Some might even say we ourselves are animals, that the true "animals" are us. Not me, though. Before the internet, we knew almost nothing about anything. Then came Wikipedia, where people can make up their own facts about stuff, and we know a little more. And now there's Kurt Braunohler, who makes up facts about animals that we didn't know before. And now we know a lot less. 


When it comes to fake facts, my favorite are the ones that sound somewhat real, or the ones that really make you think. Like, "dolphins have tattoos of slutty chicks on their lower backs," and pointing out the startling truth that, even with human-level intelligence, dolphins "did nothing to stop the Holocaust." It's sad, but undeniably true. And as we all know, starting any sentence with, "we all know..." is a good way of making your listener assume what you're about to say is true, because if they don't agree with what come after, you're the stupid one.
